Athletic Therapy has a proud history in Ontario where, thanks to a handful of visionary champions supported by the American NATA, started the profession from this province (click to history infographic).

It's been 50 years!!  Athletic Therapy Ontario is proud to welcome you into the profession and is here to help you build your professional practice.

First off, until registration renewal time you are still covered by your OATA Hub/Trisura group malpractice insurance plan.  

No need to buy another plan for 2023.  

The OATA has confirmed with the insurer you are covered under the plan til December 31, 2023.  Registration renewal will open in October 2023 for the 2024 practice year offering you the option of three staggered payments to ease that financial burden in this your qualifying year.

  • OATA is your voice with government and is critical to promoting the profession within Ontario by advancing and increasing public awareness in what Athletic Therapy offers any involved in sport and active, lifestyle health and injury care.
  • OATA provides Members with access to approved First Responder/BLS courses;
  • OATA provides Members with professional advice from sector leaders such as CLHIA (Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association) on how to prevent insurance fraud in billing practices;
  • OATA is also working to increase EHB insurance coverage of Athletic Therapy while building the case for Athletic Therapy efficacy using evidence-based practice research as proof.
